Mt. Lion

That's a solid lion!! I've shot them with just about everything, really the 22 mag works the easiest and least stressful for everyone but it's boring!!

Well there is no CATegory for lions so it's going the Varmint category I guess.
I have tagged along on hunts and seen a few treed before. Very intense pace, up very steep rocky terrain. Finally treed a cat that my much more experienced friend said was a shooter. Used a 30-30 with 160gr FTX single shot through the heart. Packed him out whole. Realized the tag onView attachment 134592 his foot was gone once I got back to the truck. Had to go track down the tag, don't use zip ties in cold.... meat was delicious don't ever pass it up if you have the opportunity. I'm not a taxidermy kinda guy but the wife talked me into it, telling me I would regret it if I didn't. Just did a rug due to cost. It was one of the most intense experiences of my hunting life. Don't know how much he weighed or scored cause I don't care about that stuff. But for reference I'm 5'8", 190 lbs.View attachment 134590 View attachment 134591

Oh Yeah,
He's a goodun. Congratulations on a fine trophy. I'm glad ur wife talked you in to doing something with him. Preserve the skull.

That's a great looking mountain lion, congratulations.
I had a semi-close call with one this year turkey hunting with my 10-year-old boy with me. I had one come in on us in the stalk mode. It was a big one. I had a 12 gauge with birdshot and it set it down and pulled out a revolver and fired shot at it but I missed. It jumped straight up in the air and then hauled away.
We have a good number of them in my state and I always see sign.
The season is all year long and I had a tag.
I've seen probably a dozen over the years but they always spook and run immediately. This one didn't do that.
I'm still catching Hell from the boy about missing it lol.
I hope to get one some day.
