Mountain Lion Released out of bobcat trap

Here is a pretty cool video I took from last years trapping season. My friends caught this female lion, around 100lbs, on one of their bobcat sets. Legally in Wyo you have to let them go or call the G&F to have them release the cat. It was successfully let go unharmed.

Man, drags make that a whole lot harder, we anchor short and that makes it easier. You should have seen us release one and all we had was some baling twine, that sucked. I would still rather release one of those than a bobcat or an eagle.
It sure give you a bad feeling when you look down and realize you way to far in the catch circle. Kinda fun to see someone else do it.

Baling twine! That takes brassballs son! I think they knew better than to use that trap. They borrowed it from a cousin who had waaaay too much chain on it. Ya usually the drag is 3-4' long. Too much in a hurry to fix on that day is what they said. Certain spots we can use anchors and others youd lose cats due to being to close to main roads and rabbit hunters. They make it a little ways to tree and go hide usually.

No brass balls just no brains, that and 4 top lion hounds tied up a few feet away. We got his back feet in a noose and stretched him, after the trap was of we hid behind the hounds and he kicked out and ran of.
People who steal fur a pond scum, man that frosts me, that's one reason all my rivets are welded and earth anchored deep, at least if they can get the trap opened they don't get a trap.
