A new bill if being proposed that will lead to gun confiscation without due process of law.

What is truly detestable about this bill is that it also violates other Amendments of the Constitution as well.
From the article:
"With an extreme risk protection order, a judge will hold a hearing with the individual petitioning for intervention, excluding the person of concern."
Here is what the Sixth Amendment says regarding such matters:
"In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense."
And here is a little disturbing nugget from the article: "The bill, co-sponsored by House majority leader Alec Garnett, describes an extreme risk protection order which allows family, household member, or an officer to petition a judge to lawfully take away the weapons". Household member?? that could mean a disgruntled roommate. And an officer petitioning the court?? I thought our legal system was supposed to have checks in balances. Cops make arrests, judges pass down sentences, and a jury determines innocence or guilt. As a matter of fact there is no mention of a jury in the article.
The article states that this will be decided by a judge. Can anyone here name a judge in Colorado that values the Second Amendment? I can't. So there really is no significant likelihood of anyone getting a fair "trial" in this matter.
So anti gun side in Colorado seems to have a "Constitution be damned" attitude about civil rights.
The problem is that in the once beautiful state of Colorado our enemy has all the key terrain, the state house, state senate, and the governors house. The only thing we can hope for is that GOA or the NRA will take this matter to federal court. And hopefully they will pursue it thought the 6th amendment angle.
To all of you in Colorado, you MUST get every gun owner to the polls the next election so that you can turn back, or at least block any further high stupidity like what is being proposed now. If you can get enough of you to contact your state reps maybe you can turn this back. When you do remind them what happened when they passed their utterly stupid and completely inefective magazine ban. Flood their phone lines and mailboxes.
Good luck and Godspeed in your efforts. If there is anything the rest of this forum, outside of Colorado, can do please let us know.
