Montana x-bows illegal

Assuming you live in MT, contact your state agency that deals with ADA issues. They will be able to provide definitive info, and possibly take up your case. If you hunt MT as non-resident, you are a guess and should abide by their rules, and not complain. You should have no input/say. In that case, hunt in your state with X-bow, or another state that permits it for non-residents. If you are a MT resident formerly from CA, trying to change MT laws to your CA loonie ways, then go back to CA. Every win has to start with one RESIDENT person saying, "ENOUGH!!" It's about time some resident American Patriot did same regarding Socialist/Xiden tyrannical directions.
hes a non resident

It's people like you that do not deserve to be able able to hunt you have no compassion for anybody or anybody he deserves the hunt just like you or me or anybody else you're the one that should probably stay home
nothing stopping him from hunting montana his problem is he doesn't like using the draw lock because its to hard
well tough chit life isn't fair DEAL WITH IT i agree wit the others don't like the laws of OUR STATE then stay in your own state
we don't need your money your whining or your dis respect

Same can be said with a rifle

A variable powered scope gives much advantage over a fixed power...a scope with turrets give an advantage over a scope without...a rangefinder combined with a ballistics app combined with a turret scope gives a major advantage over everything and is capable of making 600 yard shots with less practice than someone needs with a crossbow at 50 yards
Slippery slope...don't throw stones when you live in a glass house.
this^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

thanks for your answer but the the time of the year the archery season is open is so nice to be in the mountains with elk bugling. as far as tracking a wounded animal my son , friend and myself are very good trackers maybe better than many others ? my handi cap is my shoulders for drawing a bow anymore.
life is tough deal with it montana isn't going to change is laws because it sos nice to be in the mountains with bulging elk
you can hike you can drive you can track then you can draw a BOW don't like our laws THEN STAY OUT OF OUR STATE
I know you kinda got beat up and I didn't read the whole thread, so I'm going to ask you a question. Bear with me, say you weren't handicapped in a way that would prevent you from using a compound bow. Do you think that using a X-bow would give you an advantage over using a compound?
HE CAN use a traditional bow its just EASIER for him to use a cross bow so he wants to sue montana because we won't change our laws to suit him

Not trying to steer away from the OP, but this sentiment is garbage. And as someone who hunts multiple states every year, spending thousands of my hard earned dollars in your state I might add, I'm sick of being called an "idiot" or that we non-residents "screw up your hunting". Last time I checked Montana received more than $9.3 billion in federal aid. That's not including all the revenue us non-residents contribute to your state's economy.

Don't get me wrong, I understand you being protective of your state. I don't want people from outside my state telling me how to live in mine either. I'm just sick of being looked down like I'm doing something wrong when all I want to do is hunt.
then come hunt but don't come here and threaten to sue us because we won't change our laws to make it EASIER for you
which is exactly what the op wants

It's been going on for a long time, and it will continue. IMHO X-bows will be legal in MT. Maybe not tomorrow, but it will come. It all comes down to hunter recruitment (dollars).
they are legal just not during bow season and that WONT BE CHANGEING anytime soon

Thats all. 3 months! Is that all seasons together or just archery? Either way not that much. Unless you are talking elk as i am talking deer. Then totally different. Obviously we dont have them.

Nj depending on what zone you are hunting archery starts in September and ends somewhere in February. With a few weeks off for shotgun or muzzleloader.
with all seasons combines montanas season is 6 months long august to febuary

hurt it much more and it will be extinct
Ignorance is bliss. Crossbows dont/wont do that.

Also i do believe sometime in the future it will make it to MT. It can be awhile but it has a high probability of eventually getting there. Lots of states said crossbows wont come to their state and they are. Just never say never. I have zero interst in this and dont care one way or the other. I wish everyone a happy healthy year.

i would use a x-bow without wheels on the limbs , compound hunters try that i am more traditional than any compound bow hunter , x-bows have been used for centuries ,compound bows 50 some years . another thing is you can only tag one elk per year in most areas in Montana, so what is the real problem ? jealous , butt hurt that maybe a handi-cap or old x-bow archery hunter will do better than you with a compound bow ? > just remember someday you so called semi-pro great compound bow archery hunters will get old and or handi-capped will see how that works for you then ,oh will there be whining then ! the big problem is you boys know the age thing is coming for you so are you just staying home then ? anyway have a great archery season from a 70 year old handi-cap archery hunter, Twolf

in Montana x-bows are illegal to hunt with during the archery season for everyone . as a handi -cap person with a valid doctor permit for Montana i still am not allowed to use a x-bow during archery season. i did purchase a draw lock system for my compound bow but that is very difficult to carry in the mountains and the draw lock is legal in Montana but its a real joke for a handi -cap person to carry and use. Montana bowhunters association is against people with a disability ,i wonder if that is even legal in America to be against handi-cap people like that ? any attorneys out there ? it might be some easy money ?
TWolf; not being disrespectful my friend but,the first thing I thought of is the safety of the person and their disability. Not stepping on anyone's toes but ,I can reassure they thought this one thru as dollars and sense. Good to hear your still out in the field doing what you love to do.I commend you for that! Be safe my friend!
