Model 70 Stock Replacement Question for the Experts

I have a Winchester Model 70A 7mm WSM that I want to put a new stock on. I purchased a Hogue stock to go with it. The problem is that "A". The original gun has 3 screws like the 2-piece bottom metal version. But being a more "budget" gun at the time the floorplate is molded in as part of the stock. As a result, I have a trigger guard but not a floorplate to go with the 3 screw design.

Couple of questions.

One, what is the risk of using a 1 piece assembly without the middle screw?

Two, does anyone know of a good source for obsolete/rare parts like the floorplate I need? No one seems to be making it. I've searched the web but no success.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Midwest gun works used to have a bunch of Winchester 70 parts, they're not nearly as many available these days.
can't say on your stock question may have to try it and find out. lots of people switch the three screw bottom metal over to a two screw one piece bottom metal that's pretty common.

used to be able to get the old spr McMillan or hogue stocks and bottom metals for dirt cheap until a couple years ago, may luck out and find a stock/bottom metal for that as they made a 300wsm spr mag

not sure if they're the same length between screw holes so may want to check but you might luck out and find a good stock with the old square front bottom metal for cheap somewhere

Do you know if the 300mm and 7mm are interchangeable? I think the cartridges have similar dimensions.

I have a question in with Midwest Gunworks about a potential 1-piece fit.

I have a model 70 in 7WSM that I have a B&C stock #7775 that works with the 2pc 3 screw bottom metal. There description states it won't work with 3 screws. But mine did with a shim under front screw

Thanks. My problem is that I don't have the floorplate itself. The original gun is a Model 70A. The floorplate is part of the stock

PTG, Pacific Tool & Gauge makes a number of different Winchester 70 floor plates. Try them.

A side note, there is an adapter insert that can be used with a three screw stock for use with a two screw floor plate.

I reached out to them but no success.

I saw that adapter but could not tell if it was to take a 1 piece design to 2 pieces or 2 pieces to one. Do you think a one piece would just fit over top of that?

I'd go with the McMillian Win Mod 70 in the old Pre 64 style. Cheers
