I found a savage model 10 predator at my local gun store priced at $499.99. It is used but looks like someone just took it out west on a predator hunt and then re-sold the gun. The bolt does not look unusually worn or anything and the throat seems to be perfect. This particular model also does not have the accustock or a detachable mag. Would it be a better idea to spend the extra 200 bucks to get a new one? I was also considering a TC Venture Predator. Is a model 10 going to be of higher quaility than the TC?

I would go for the Savage. I have the same rifle in 22-250. Less than .5 MOA with several factory loads and handloads. I like the barrel weight/balance of the barrel, and the accutrigger is excellent.

I have the 223 that will shoot .5 MOA pretty consistant, best group was .3 with factory ammo, Hand loads I shot 40 rounds in a 1" at 100 with out any cleaning, just let barrel cool a bit between 5 shot strings which were as fast as I could acuratly shoot them. One of my favorite rifles.

Both savages that I've had and all of the savages I've been around shoot factory ammo very well....one reason other than the Remington I got for my wife, savage is all I'll ever own...

Here's another vote to grab it! My dad's got two - one in 204 and one in 22-250 - both shoot about .5 moa.
