Just getting started on a "Poor Boy" LR( goal is 1200 yrds.) rig and I'm already perplexed. I have a Savage 116 in 6.5-284 Norma and am using a Burris Signature 8-32 ( 0nly 22 inches elevation adjustment) on bases supplied by Savage. I generally zero at 300 yrds., but am grouping 8 inches low and am out of adjustment. Can someone make some suggestions on MOA bases to minimize the $ heartache of experimentation? Thanks in advance, memtb
PS: The wife and I shot the rifle late this afternoon for the first time. We both shot a 3 shot groups at 300 yrds., and yes she bested me. She had 2 touching and the 3rd. opened the group to just under an inch. My group was a nice triangle, measuring 1 1/8". so far we're pleased and ready to start "stretching it out"!!!
