The Kia Telluride is the only vehicle we found with 3rd row seating that would fit an adult of any size - my daughter-in-law loves hers. The all-wheel-drive models are the way to go.
5 coworkers and I took a Uber ride that was a newer Pilot. That back seat was actually pretty decent, depending how big you are.My dad drove a Honda Pilot for forever and it was great. Super reliable, no hassles, but the third row was a little tight. If you want a mid sized SUV then the third row will always be a "just in case" type of set up versus a full sized.

This!Honda pilot. Replace timing belt every 100k and should keep rolling for a long time. 3rd seat is usable.
