So if im reading this correctly copper bullets can have a accurate bc rating or atleast close to the advertised bc?
Ohhhh gotcha! I see it now lol. Yeah, ain't no way it's got a higher BC than a 195 Berger. But .715 G1 seems reasonable given its shape and design. The OP said he trued the 168 gr G1 .800. But even @ .715 G1 that calculates out to .367 G7, which is still very good.
Nope. It doesn't matter if it's cup and core lead or monos BC's can be skewed. I generally check myself and/ or look at other people's findings. I really like it when trusted members or Bryan Litz post findings. So if im reading this correctly copper bullets can have a accurate bc rating or atleast close to the advertised bc?
They're getting closer! hahahaSo if im reading this correctly copper bullets can have a accurate bc rating or atleast close to the advertised bc?
Yeah I agree that seems more reasonable. And if that 168 gr can be pushed to 2950 fps out of say a 7mm rem mag then it's pretty darn good.Ohhhh gotcha! I see it now lol. Yeah, ain't no way it's got a higher BC than a 195 Berger. But .715 G1 seems reasonable given its shape and design.
I have got these in hand but haven't got to shoot them yet. I'll post what I get when I do.Ohhhh gotcha! I see it now lol. Yeah, ain't no way it's got a higher BC than a 195 Berger. But .715 G1 seems reasonable given its shape and design.
And run the new tipped Hammers through AB too since those are also advertised as estimated BCs.Someone load them up and go shoot a match where the AB Van is onsite!
I may try get my ducks in a row and shoot the ELR match again next year and bring a number of rifles/bullets with me since it's free. And run the new tipped Hammers through AB too since those are also advertised as estimated BCs.
I ran the 160s not the 168 out of my 7mm rem mag at 3125fps last winter using 69.5gr retumbo. definitely fast for 7mm. Haven't tried it again yet this spring. Standard browning rmef rifle. Surprised me.Yeah I agree that seems more reasonable. And if that 168 gr can be pushed to 2950 fps out of say a 7mm rem mag then it's pretty darn good.
He is being conservative with the estimate. I shot the 168s out of my 28Nosler this week out to 1040 horizontal, 1100+ line of sight. Using the 0.800 G1, was spot on out at least to 800, at 1040 was 1/2 MOA short. My good buddy, that shoots a ton on ELR, said he trued the 168's at .715 G1 BC out to 1250 yards. I definitely trust his word, because he has no reason to say otherwise. I also feel like .715 G1 seems more realistic.
I'm also not sure where everyone keeps getting .800G1 BC from on this 168gr. bullet? Their website state .750G1 estimated.
I bet that was pretty effective Monos have come a long way in trying to overcome some of the shortcomings...I ran a 30 caliber 124 grain Hammer Hunter @ 3400FPS ( 30-06) from Ham out the brisket on a buck that turned hard walking away after I had committed to the trigger last year a little north of Del Rio , Texas , needless to say what his insides looked like when we opened him up!
Sounds promising. He is being conservative with the estimate. I shot the 168s out of my 28Nosler this week out to 1040 horizontal, 1100+ line of sight. Using the 0.800 G1, was spot on out at least to 800, at 1040 was 1/2 MOA short.
Did you get any chrono data during your drop testing? He is being conservative with the estimate. I shot the 168s out of my 28Nosler this week out to 1040 horizontal, 1100+ line of sight. Using the 0.800 G1, was spot on out at least to 800, at 1040 was 1/2 MOA short.
