Did anyone shoot an Elk with Marshall 160 grain bullet this year.
Which 6.5 did you used, did it do its job with one shoot

Re: Marshall 6.5 160 bullets

That would be them, I have been thinking of building a 26 Nosler and using the Matrix
160 for Elk hunting. I haven't seen anyone using them for Elk. They might be a little
light.

I'll find some pics of the last elk dad smoked with the 160, he hit him at 300 yards and change, he was moving along getting out of the area and he took a 160 right behind the shoulder, clean hole in then utter destruction to the heart and lungs with bullet lodging in the of shoulder. He made it max 30 yards, blood everywhere and piled it up hard. We've tried to get one at distance but every time we go to get it done we can't beat elk of us so they get wacked. I think he's shooting them around 3000 fps.

I have been using these exclusivley since I first got them ( 4yrs ?) and nothing has required a second shot. From 20-500yds performance has been consistent, rarely is there an exit.

Too light? Might seem so depending on what you are comparing with (weight or caliber).
Out of my 6.5 Sherman @ 2970fps they will exceed the 6.5-.300 Weatherby 127- 140gr factory loads at 1000yds in both velocity and energy.
Helped a friend with his elk last week, ,308/165 Hornady BT , the 6,5/160 Matrix at 1000yds equals the .308 at 500yds.
I prefer to compare sectional density, 6.5/160, 7mm/180, .308/210 are all on par.
