Lost my life long hunting friend

It is mixed emotions day for me.
My life long hunting buddy and friend passed away 82 in a few short days would have been 83.
His funeral was today. 35+ yrs of memories.
Three years ago was our last hunt in PA and NY.
The many miles to camp and home.
The shared success and going home empty handed.
My deepest empathies.

Sadly, many of us know this feeling all too well, as we have lost many friends and family along our journey to reach the age we are now. May we all meet again in the happy hunting grounds.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend. I have a buddy I met in 7th grade and we started hunting rabbits with our BB guns, I killed my first deer with him. We live in different states now so don't get to hunt together anymore but hunting is what brought us together as friends over 50 years ago. Great hunting buddies are hard to find. Just curious what part of PA and NY? My mother was upstate NY and is buried across the line in PA. Again, my condolences for your loss.

I don't have anyone that I've hunted with for that length of time. I have one friend I've known for well over 30 years, but we live far apart and don't hunt together very often. A former member here (he could go all the way) has been my hunting buddy for the last four years and we actually met on this forum, but it's Getting harder for me to keep up with him. I will probably have to do a knee this year that will put me down for a little while, but I'm not dead yet !

I lost my best friend and hunting and fishing partner on New Year's Day. Almost 40 years of friendship. I understand what you are going through.

God's peace to his or her family, you and yours.

3 years ago I lost a lifelong best friend-brother inlaw-hunting-fishing-skiing-country boy partyin' buddy who I have known since 4th grade. He was 58. I've also lost my Dad, a Son, and a Brother since Sep '22. To say it has been a shocking 3 years is an understatement. It's been numbing. I recommend leaning hard into The Lord. Speak your broken heart in prayer, don't hold back and go boldly before the Throne of Grace. There is comfort to be found there.
You have the right ROCK to lean on! Thats sure a rough stretch. The pain remains but hope is there. God bless and comfort you my friend!
