looking for right 22 hornet action.

Another choice if you have changed your mind would be a 222 Remington. There are lots of rifles that this would be a great cartridge in and in the past the 222 Rem was considered a bench rest quality cartridge.

Yes i think i read that the 222 was the fastest 22 caliber out there for some time right over 4000 fps. That will work with a short remington 700 action?

You are probably thinking of the 220 swift. 222 is around 3150 with a 50 grain bullet.

Big fan of the A-bolt micro, super accurate with factory 30 grain Vmax, this is 3 @100 yards.

The highest I ever saw was 3800 for the 222 Rem the 222 Rem mag would top that.

Yep you are right it was another round i was looking at. There are so many its like ice cream so many flavors.

You are really not gonna get a better overall factory action than the 527 for a hornet boltface. Just get past the magazine and there a great action.

If you just want an ACTION (nothing else) then the CZ 527 from Impact Guns for $477 seems like the best option: https://www.impactguns.com/Rifle-Receivers/CZ-527-Action-Only-22-Hornet-806703000237-00023/

If you aren't a fan of the magazine extending below the stock like it does with the CZ 527, then you'd want to look at getting a Ruger 77/22 in .22 Hornet. They occasionally pop up on the used market but rarely for less than $600 (not cheap.) You can get new ones for about $800. They look classy, the magazine is flush with the bottom of the action/stock, and they can be very accurate if you spend $10 and get the bolt shims from Shively: https://triggershims.com/ruger_m77.html#S77.25

Another option is the Savage Model 25 for about $545 for the whole gun (not just an action), but again, the magazine sticks out the bottom a bit if that is an issue for you. Also, it isn't the sexiest looking action/rifle, but functionally they seem to shoot well for people and they are affordable (relatively.)
