Looking For Opinions

Hi all,

I just took delivery of my new 30-06 bolt action.

I have 3 options on optics:

1. March 1.5-15x42 MTR 5.
2. Zeiss Victory HT 3-12x56.
3. Lecia Visus 2.5-10x42i.

Rifle will used for mid range, out to about 500 yards.

1 or 3 would be my choice and more than enough for 500yrds

Those March Compact 1.5-15×42 are REALLY short. Check mounting length before committing to put it on a LA. If it was an SA, I would say try it.
Total mounting real estate is only 4.4" from back of objective bell to front of magnification ring swell. And you have a 1.5" turret housing right in the middle of that. The S&B PMII 5-20×50US is actually a bit longer, and barely fits on a SA.

With your choices, looks like your budget is pretty well funded. Up into the $2600 range with the March. That opens up some other options if you are open to suggestions.

All of the optics listed are in my possession collecting dust, need to mount one, just which one.

What is the environment in which the rifle will be used? What will you be hunting?

Whitetail, mule deer, possibly exotic on game farm.
It seems like I would have to put on a rail to use the March, so that would be out.
The Lecia may be best option.

Personally if I had a Zeiss Victory HT sitting on my shelf I'd put it on a rifle.

That's too bad you feel that way. The rail allows you the flexibility to mount rings and scopes, regardless of the scope you end up with. Good luck!
