I've been loading the Weatherby calibers for a few years and would like to get away from the RL 22 and 25 powders due to temp. sensitivity. Can anyone help me with other good load information for these two calibers?

I've had great success with IMR7828 and IMR4831 in both my .257's. One is a Mark V and the other is a Remington CDL. I've been convinced to try H4831 which I'll be using this weekend. I understand Hodgen powders have a wide temp range and I can get it! I use Nosler 100 grain Ballistic tips as well as Barnes TTSX in the same weight. Hope that helps.

My custom 240 Wby likes 49 gr of RL22 behind a 105 gr bullet at 3380 fps. You can certainly substitute H4831 as they are similar in burn rate.

My Mark V .257 Weatherby likes 117 grain Sierra gamekings and H4831sc powder ahead of a Federal magnum primer.

Never got 100 grain bullets to shoot consistently well in it. Bought some 110 grain accubonds a few years ago I have yet to try.

I also really like the 110 Accubonds with 72.0gr H1000 in my 257WBY. I just tried the load last week, and shot a very impressive group with it. With the OAL at 3.30" it shot a .787" group, and moving the bullet out to 3.40" it shot a .240" @ 100yds. (that was from subtracting the caliber size from the group) I am very impressed with this Rem CDL now that I found something it likes.

Another good load for mine is 117 SST, 68.0 gr RL25. This load shot a .762" group at OAL 3.235" Both of these loads should be fine hunting loads.

Good luck

I use 73.5gr H1000 with COL 3.316 yielding 3408 fps. This is close to max in my gun (.257 Wby Mark), so be sure and work up to this load.
