Looking at getting my first can. Suggestions?

I was in the same frame of mind as the op. I wanted a versatile lightweight can for my first one. It will live mainly on hunting rifles and see occasional use on my AR for night hunting. I did a lot reading and YouTube watching like everyone else does, ultimately decided on a direct thread Nomad TI XC. I can't say if I made the right decision or not yet, as it is still in ATF jail. I'm sure I'll love it, mainly because I'll have nothing to compare it to. 😆

look at the OCL Hydrogen S, and their Ti22 for rimfire........

Been a few years since I needed a can. But I'd base my opinion on the cost of replacement baffles if I needed to use it Professionally. Just remember that any device that allows you to mount a can will negate your use in competition as the rules are written today. 🤔

I like my 36M. It's modular. Not gonna win any weight contests but it's multi purpose. Probably will buy a second along with another trash panda. The panda does great on bolt guns and it's light. Couldn't pass up the panda with free tax stamps. I'll reiterate going with a mounting system you can spread to the arsenal for all the cans you'll eventually buy.

So I'm looking at getting my first can. I'd like my first can to be a little more multi purpose until I can build up my stable of cans. Building a house right now so until that's all squared away I'm only getting 1 can.

Mostly hunting, living on my bolt guns. However I would use it on my gas 5.56 for precision work. I don't have any desire to just blast away with my 5.56.

Id also shoot some prs matches with it since they just opened a suppressor division.

Cans I've been kinda looking at are the Scilencer co Scythe TI, Dead Air nomad, TBAC ultra 7, anything along those lines. I don't want anything really heavy and long. I noticed the TBAC cans seem to be quite a bit pricier than the rest. Any suggestions are welcome.
Just plan on 2 or 3 cans for your uses. You can say you'll want 1 for all that now, but as soon as you get it, you'll go get another, and another.

For hunting, the Scythe, aside from the failures it seems to be having for some people at the welds is a pretty great can. To you're list I'd add the AB raptor 6 or 8.

Get a flow through 556 can for the AR.

Get some large volume high recoil reduction stainless steel or inconel can for the games.

This is the competition rifle it would go on for prs matches and recreational shooting.

My other 2 rifles are hunting rifles in 6.5 creed and 7mm RM.
Nice rifle. Have similar set up. MPA Pro with heavy barrels in 6 dasher, 6.5 creed, and 223AI. I run a 30 cal TBAC Ultra 7 on all. Didn't want to invest in a bunch of them. Also use it on hunting rifles up to 300 RUM.

Not sure what rules your talking about, but in PRS there are several guys in my region that shoot with cans. Majority use brakes though. But with PRS now having a suppressor division I'd like to switch over. Shooting all day with a loud brake gives me a headache by the end of the day.

I've got 20+ cans but it's been about a year since I looked at all the options. Until the scythe came along the Ultra 7 was my favorite. Scythe is quieter/sounds better. Definitely look at Dilligent Defense Enticer STi and LTi. I think S is quieter than the scythe. I do not use muzzle devices on bolt guns, just direct thread everything. I've had to send 4 cans back for repairs over the years, SiCo will fix and return within a week in my experience.
