Longest shot ever

As stated earlier by another member I too prefer them close, but my old buddy used to say you can't kill em if you don't shoot at em. It's really nice to be able to hit targets at distance. We had some last-minute practice yesterday at 500, and every shot we took was in the kill zone in a funky wind. The sound of steel being smacked by a bullet gets sweeter the longer it takes to get back to you.

I definitely don't recommend shooting at distance without practice, I made sure I was comfortable hitting a target at 500 before I attempted this shot, the place I hunt on with my sons is capable of providing a1000+ yard shot. So lots more practice in the future!!

Awesome! Congrats on a really nice buck! That is a pretty far poke. I remember long ago when a shot that far made hunters just stare across a canyon. Even at that distance many people choke under pressure.....buck fever, bad positioning, wind.

Some people think if they buy an expensive custom rifle that deer and other animals will somehow magically drop, I practiced shooting at long distance before I shot it. I believe if I do my job the rifle has no problem doing its job. And thanks!

Thank you for for being aware of your limitations and staying within them until you were ready to expand them out. Congratulations on an excellent buck!
I'm so tired of people I know spending thousands of dollars on building the perfect 1000 yard elk rifle when they have no clue about ballistics, wind dope, how fast their bullet is actually going out of their rifle, and never shot past 200 yards.
Again congrats on your success!
