Hi to all!

I got convinced today from my post on the varmint section to buy a cooper m22 22-250 rifle. (Thanks to all those replies from the varmint sction) I now need to put a scope on it for varminting from 400+ yards. What scope is reccomended? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif I was told a weaver T series from a friend, is that reccomended?

Looking forward to your replies!
Thanks!

Nightforce NXS should be about the best you can find out there. Don't forget a Swaro rangefinder so you know what to dial in. Maybe you can talk Bill and Lerch into a nice combo deal.

You won't be dissapointed in a Cooper! I have bought mine used almost two years and its still punching tight groups and slaying varmints, mines a 22ppc. As for scopes I have a Weaver V-6-24 on mine with varmint dot. It lacks resolution at the ranges you listed on smaller varmints. It tracks reliably with 1/8" clicks you can really fine tune your zero with that. But for the money I don't know what scope would have better resolution. The T series is a fixed power scope, I wouldnt do that to myself. I need a variable power because when the mirage gets bad you can turn down the power. You can't do that with a T-24. I also own a Leupold Vx-II 6-18x40 with target knobs on my 22-250 works just fine, I shot a rockchuck a few weeks ago at 635 yards. But my favorite scope I own is my Leupold VX-III 8.5-25X50LR. IT has plenty of elevation, probably more that you would ever need. The resolution is better than anything else I own, Bullet holes on overcast clowdy days appear as smudges at 600 yards. Try doing that with my Weaver. So its all in what you want to spend. Good luck

Zeiss conquest 6.5-20x50, by far the best scope made, blew my Leupolds away. Doug at cameraland.com will hook you up

I have been very happy with a Leupold 8.5-25 LRT with fine duplex for 5 years. Only recently upgraded to a Mark 4 with TMR reticule and even better optics with great reference points of fine half mil hash marks on the elevation and windage stadia.

I've got a Burris Black Diamond 8-32 x 50mm thats an awsome piece of glass , I think its actualy a little more clear than my Leo LR but not quiet at good as the Nikon Tactical I just got. 8-32 power is alot of magnification , in fact to much for me

Get the Bushnell Elite 4200 6X24. Get the one that has dot rather than the Duplex reticle. I have the older Bausch & Lomb Elite 4000 mounted on my 222 Remington Magnum, excellent scope for varminting if not for duplex reticle which is too thick for shooting little critter, like squirrels or PD. The 42MM objective is perfect for mounting the scope lower which is more desirable. For clarity, the B&L is up there with scope costing 3 times as much and I'll bit, will look better in that Cooper.

my vote is for Leupold a 6.5x20 extended focus range 1" tube will work on any rifle.Price is with in reason, very clear optics at long range.I have had nothing but problems with other brands as to clarity at long range and lack of enough verticle come ups. Leupold handles recoil better than most.Have no experence with Nightforce$$$$ but they have always looked super.
