There are a number of guys who use the Tikka 270 WSM at extended and long ranges, you can not push any bullet hard enough in the 6.5 to match a 270 WSM with a 165 Matrix, that said the 270 WSM may be more than your looking for. I run some 6.5's and they are excellent mid range rifles that you can push a little farther in the right conditions.
The 6.5-06 is solid but I'd probably lean to the 6.5x284, if wanting to us the 06 length case I'd go all the way and run a 6.5 Sherman which is the most 6.5 you can get from a 06 based case, it'll have the 6.5x284 by 200 fps with the same bullets.
