So I was going to load some 7mm 150s up for my 28 nosler and was just wondering how far off the ABLR like to be seated. I have used these before with not satisfying results. Thanks

This is not from personal experience but from a pretty reliable source. Start at .075" off the lands and then go deeper from there or farther away from the lands. If you want more details from guys that have shot lots of them I would give the guys at The Best of The West down in Cody, Wy. a call and ask for John Porter. He's probably shot a box car full of them by now and he'll tell you like it is. Keep in mind that these guys are sponsored by Nosler so take that for what it is worth.

Thank you I will start at .75

Well after I posted this question I checked the COL in my rifle which is a nosler patriot and to the lands is 3.581" and my mag length is 3.423" . That kind of ****es me off that nosler builds them this way. I have tried 168vld already with horrific results. It does shoot the 160ab fantastic with the max load listed on the nosler site with 91gr of rl33 @3350fps. But I can't even play with heavy high BC bullets due to mag length. I do have some 145lrx and the 150ablr loaded and hopefully can push them at warp speed and once I get out I will post results.
This is my 2nd 28 since spring and my last once was built on a Sako 85 which I could not get consistency out of. But my buddy built a 28 on a rem 700 and he's getting 3250fps with 180vld with 82 gr of retumbo and holy crap does that thing put a hurting on what ever it hits.
Well results in the near future to follow.
Thanks

Its not a big deal to have them jump. Because of magazine restrictions I have some VLD's that jump well over .100" and they shoot fine. My Remington 700 custom shop 7mm RUM had .300-.400" freebore and I jumped them around .250" if I remember right. ( New bbl now with .060" freebore )

I am currently testing 150 ABLR in a 7-08 Ackley and the 168 ABLR in a 7mm RSAUM and they are scary accurate and load work up was easy. I treated them just like my Berger VLD's - I don't jam anything in a hunting rifle, I jump. I just need to shoot them at distance to establish B.C. and make sure accuracy stays consistent. Then I will just need to shoot something with them.

In the two rifles i have tried 7mm ABLR both liked it just touching the lands.
Accuracy is about 1" at 250 meters / five shots. in both rifles.

I have been working on a load for my 7mm 700 action, Hart 26 in 1 in 9 twist. I have had super mixed results with these bullets in the numerous rifles we have tried them in. To the point that we kind of gave up on them from not so great results. I recently finally called Nosler and asked them why i was having so many problems as i am sitting on quite a few different calibers. He told me (shortened version) that they like to jump due to the nature of the bullet designed to expand at a lower velocity... What ever that meant i buried them at 3.250 in Retumbo they were all at an inch or bigger groups with the 168 grain ACBLR's. These were all compressed loads. I had also had done a ladder of H1000 and instantly got under a half inch (outside measurement) at a 100 yards. The loads were not compressed. I then bumped them out to 3.290 and the group tightened up a little more. We have also been working with a 28 Nosler that we built running 175 Accubond LR's and are have great results with them. I guess i took it for granite that they would be like bergers and want to be at the lands. I now have hope in them again and will continue to find the "magic" load for this gun with these bullets. I really dont understand why they like such a run at it but it seems to be the ticket. I will update as i just started with this gun.
