Ive been thinking about letting my son use my 6 creed for deer this year. I shoot the 109 berger at 3100 fps so there should be no issues getting those to open up. I've shot a few woodchucks with them and even without opening up the tips they blew those woodchucks apart5 antelope this weekend with the 109 Berger
They work perfectly. Expansion and devastation
Explosive tips ??? InterestingIve been thinking about letting my son use my 6 creed for deer this year. I shoot the 109 berger at 3100 fps so there should be no issues getting those to open up. No explosive tips...... maybe I should've used a different word than "blew" apart. In other words it really messed up their days hahaExplosive tips ??? Interesting
I guess I don't see how the bullet can't expand and yet the ground hog was destroyed. I've Shot many with 140 Amax bullets from a 6.5-284 at ranges beyond 800 yards and they performed beautifully. Pencil hole in, silver dollar exit or bigger. No explosive tips...... maybe I should've used a different word than "blew" apart. In other words it really messed up their days haha
I'm alittle confused on what your trying to say. I didn't say the bullets didn't expand because obviously they did. I was just saying that even though the tips on the 109 bergers are pointed (meaning a very, very small meplat) they still seemed to expand fine without out me opening them up or cleaning them out. The 3100 fps I'm sure helped that process. I'm also a big fan of the old 140 amax. Killed many deer and other small critters with it as well as the 140 Eld-mI guess I don't see how the bullet can't expand and yet the ground hog was destroyed.
