I had the opportunity to spot for a buddy as he made his longest shot ever on an animal. It isn't the biggest deer but the distance was the trophy for us. The shot was just a hair over 1,000 yds with a light 2mph ish tail wind. 300 win mag shooting 220gr eld-x at 2855fps. The deer dropped without a step with a shot right above the shoulder, took out both lungs and the heart. Awesome hunt! In the picture with my friend holding up a finger the buck is laying right where his finger is pointing.

The rifle is a custom left hand Remington 700 action blueprinted wearing a brux 28" barrel bedded into the Darrel Holland spec McMillan hunter stock with a jewel hvrt Trigger and HS Precision bottom metal, Cerakote graphite black. Built by King Custom Arms. The scope is a Nightforce SHV 4-14F1. He has a turret wrap that goes from 1-1100 yds from custom turret systems that we built by confirming drops.

Timnterra was wondering if that gun was built the same as the one I bought from you or really similar- by the way got gun looks awesome put scope on it now to find the time to shoot it- congrats on a great hunt

The only difference between the two is this one has a sendero contour barrel with a muzzle brake that mounts to a suppressor and he has a Jewell Trigger. Yours is a #4 contour with a radial brake and walker trigger.

Congrats to your friend.

This not the first game I've read about that was taken with a .300 Win mag pushing a 220 gr. Hornady ELD-X. Evidently Hornady knows how to build this ELD-X bullet in any caliber.

Eric B.
BTW, I have a Browning A-Bolt stainless .300 Win. mag. that shoots nice, little 2/4 MOA groups W/230 Berger Hybrid hand loads.

My brother is building a setup to do the same as we speak.
