Loads for New 270 wsm 1 in 8 twist 26" Barrel

If you have the magazine capacity and throat, the 156HH is a load! I got 3284 out of .270Win and the extra BC and weight is nice to have for elk.

You also might get surprised by W760 with the 124's. See the Hammer load data for more loads.
Thanks for the reply. One of my burn rate charts shows imr4350 the same burn rate as W760 so i am going totry a workup with that.

Fed-well :)

Hopeing to get comments from Dougdewey, Bean or anyone else with experence in load work up with HAMMERS.

BTW i DO NOT have RL26 or 25

FYI - I shot tune up today for Sat opener in Indiana with the .270 Win 156 HH and it was a dream to shoot and see a 1.5" group at 300 yards. Dialed up pretty good such that the group was 12 o'clock over bull just touching the top of bull so drop at short range was fine. This was 3200 fps so it will leave a mark.
Nice! Best of luck and continued success. This trip...leave the pain killers till after sunset, then all those neon dancing deer will be way more spectacular! Be safe my friend.

In my wife's 270wsm, I'm running the 124HH at 3,390fps out of a 1:10, 23" barrel. This load shoots almost boringly consistent 1/2" groups.

124HH
Winchester brass
WLRM primers
63gr IMR 4350
COAL 2.700

5 foot Bull? Only way you could see it! Be a little high at 100!

In the process of getting my 270 win updated. Original Browning A-Bolt w/1:8 26" par nor match grade fluted #5 barrel and a A3-5 McMillen Stock. Blueprinting action, chambering, inletting, burnt bronze Cerakote and custom painting stock being done by Kevin Weaver. Curious how to determine the right throat depth. I have modified my magazine to allow up to 3.550 COL with 175gr Sierra game changers. I'd also like to load 165 ABLR as well 160 Berger's. Any advice or guidance appreciated.

The 175 TGK's have a really long bearing surface and will affect the velocity to certain extent but they were still stepping along at 2900+ out of mine (27" barrel). I would look at the 170EOL if you can find them as well. The 165ABLR's did not group well for me but every rifle is different.

Guessing freebore is a crap shoot unless you have a specific bullet you want to shoot that fits in your magazine at max COAL and even then understand once you set the freebore it will start to erode anyway. I set my rifle up for 156HH and thrilled with their performance so far.

Thank you for the reply, H4350 is one Powder i have NOT been able to obtain, However I do have a couple pounds of IMR4350, may try a workup with that.

Fed-Well :)
I use imr4350 w/116AH. 3407fps near the top of my node. Best accuracy but not best velocity. Can't wait to try them out. Started my ladder at 55gr up to 68. 66,67,68, showed pressure so I backed of to 64, which was the top of fastest node

Yes I meant 170 Berger's. I can't locate any of them or the 165 ABLR to seat some samples and try to get a CBTO dimension that might work good for several bullet options. I did order the 168 HH to see how they measure out.
