Load data for Speer 140 gr Gold Dot

I'm very happy with the gold dots in all my creeds. Have absolutely no experience with your cartridge though. I'm sure you'll find a great load. Good luck stay safe.

FWIW. I shot 140-grain Speer Hot-Cors in a 6.5-06 IMP. RE-22 was the best powder I tried. 7828 should work.

My son took a 4x4 Mule deer at 300yds with the 140 SGD from a 6.5 CM, bullet hit the thickest part of the neck and passed through with a 50cent piece sized hole on the exit. Friend used same rifle on another mule deer, similar distance and size, impact in the crease, same outcome.

Though I don't have any gd's in 26cal I do however load sierra 140Spbt using imr4831 for over 38 years in 264wm. If someone has a lead on the 140gd in 26cal please help me out. I'm trying to locate some for a friend (seriously). Whether someone could spare a box or 2 or know where they can be purchased would be helpful! Thanks!

Was wanting to try Speer Gold Dot 140 gr bullets in my 264 win mag model 70 Westerner. I have some IMR 4350 and 7828 on hand. Has anyone come up with a good load using either of these powders? Speer doesn't have any data for this bullet in the 264 mag. Thanks for any help.

I used to work at federal cartridge. I asked 1 of the ballistic guys about the best bullet for deer hunting. He said the fusion bullets. Which is the gold dot But when federal puts in their box they call it fusion. FYI

I am using the 168gr Gold Dot over RL16 in my 30-06. Did single loading at 1/2gr increments until I found pressure. 0.68" 5 shot groups at 1 grain below where I observed 0.001" case head growth.

I'm about 2 grains over Alliant's max load for a 168gr Sierra MK, but my COAL is longer thus allowing more case capacity. I'm 0.020" to rifling.

November 2021 I used the above load with success....this guy went maybe 25 yards and piled up:

I contacted Speer and asked about their use for hunting and was told by Speer they were excellent for hunting big game.

I use the 140's in a modern 6.5x55. No pressure problems at all when loaded to the previous cup and core Amax load which was at max safe pressure. 2840fps from 21.5" barrel so it is a warm load. So the SGD don't seem pressure sensitive. I have found nothing not to like about them. Accurate and good terminal performance on the few deer I have shot out to 340 yard.

I've tested high velocity impacts at 3000 fps 10 yards through a 2"x4" and three water jugs. Not enough penitration for quartering towards shots on Elk size game. 1"x6" and caught between the 4th and 5th jug. Plenty for broadside or neck shots. It's changed everything for my .264WM 1:9 twist. Now I need a new optic.
