Lightweight Elk Rifle Build

I have loved my Mid-action Fusion Ti so much I'm having a 300 Norma built off their Fusion Ti-338 action. Its only 25oz all in!
Here is a pic of the Mid action in 6.5PRC.View attachment 284456View attachment 284457

I just pulled the trigger on a Zero Comprise 5-27 for my 7 Max build. 100%
impulse buy. Haha. Went from trying to figure out whether I wanted a 4-32 NX8 or a 5-25 MK5 to "screw it" ZCO it is! 😂😂

Thank you bro! Pumped. Should be here tomorrow, but… I'm having 2nd thoughts on the 5-27x56 for a dedicated hunting rifle. Rifle im Building is a 7max. As it sits it's gonna be somewhere between 10-12lbs.

contemplating sending it back and exchange information it for the ZCO 4-20x50. Always nice having a bit of extra mag, but it's 3oz heavier (no big deal) and 3" longer. And obviously FOV is a bit tighter on the 5-27

What do y'all think?

I made the same decision on my Mk5. Bought a 3-18 and a 5-25. The tiny amount of weight you gain and the little bit bigger minimum magnification, is way offset by the massive amount you gain on the top end. Yes it's slightly bigger. But it's alright. My 5-25 went on my PRC. The 3-18 went on my 7 mag.

The 7 mag I've had for a long time. It wore a 3-18 mk6 so just an upgrade there. They both balance very well.

yeah man I dig it! And that's pretty much how this whole ZCO thing started . Started out on the MK5 3.6-18, then saw the mag ranges of the NX8's. Then started conpletomg the MK5 5-25. Got frustrated with going back n forth between the 2 so I went full ****** and grabbed a ZCO. 😂

Appreciate the Insite. Probably gonna keep it he 5-27. It's already a 12lbs rifle so 3 oz isn't gonna break it. If I need a light weight rifle I'll grab they Pre-64'M70 .270 in the closet.

Good choice. And I actually had a 2-20 nx8 on the PRC. Wasn't super happy with the eye box and glass quality. See how these leupolds work out.

That's what I've heard. Some
Love them and some hate them, I'm a NF fan but haven't got behind the NX8 yet. Those eye box issues had pretty well convinced me to run Mk5's. Great glass, light, reliable, forgiving eye box. Hard to beat for that application really

Pick up a model 7 action, nice if you could find a stainless model synthetic, rebarrel in 300 saum or wsm, a great trigger and a Leupold 4x14....it'll handle anything you can hit and shoot just as well as any of the above for a fraction of the cost...nice and light and maneuverable..

Manner
EH6A?
I'm running that on 2 different rifles. Not super light but not bad

This is the EHTA.

this ones around 34-36oz I believe with the DBM, adjustable cheek and mini chasis.

This rifles probably gonna end up in. 12lb range. The 26" Proof Sendero and that ZCO 5-27 didn't help things but thats ok. If I need a lightweight mountain rifle I have that pre-64 I can use.

The 4-32 NX8 is better. I have both. Liking the 4-32.
