I lived in SE Texas until I was 34, we used many leverguns; 30-30, a 32 special (Winchester) 30-30, one 35 (336) and later, three rifles led the pack...Marlin 444, the 1895 and the Winchester 9422 "22 magnum". FMJ to the head/neck was wicked! I used a little marlin 94 44mag one year, took deer. hogs, it was a superfine little timber rifle! I got to shoot a hog here in Utah before they outlawed it ( they were domestics turned loose, but they were still hogs! ha) I shot one of those Raging Russians on the UP with my pet 35 Whelen and 310gr Woodleigh, just because. Those hogs have red meat and taste like steak! If I had known that I would have shot a pickup load, ha. I miss hog hunting big time! Think of this ol Preacher when you guys pile them up!? P.S. I never liked hunting with dogs and then sticking him...too medieval for me, ha. I like guns!
