Yea this is the problem. The ballistic table doesn't talk to the solver and both also continually auto populate weather parameters based of the elevation you enter. Each one is different. The ballistic table is great for what you like ballistic tables for. But the solver is much easier to use because it's streamlined for field use. The issue is it's not accurate and there's no way for it to be as accurate because it doesn't recall all the info you entered in the ballistic profile you built (i.e. the ballistic table). Essentially it's useless because the two do not interface to give the most accurate solution. I have made sure each of the two had identical factors (temp, altitude, pressure, etc.) and they still give different reading.Revic APP UPDATE:
I stopped in GunWerks this morning and was introduced to Verlin, one of the App guys. Easy to like him right off the bat. Personable, curious and helpful.
I showed him the 1800 yard solution in the solver side of the app and the solution in the Ballistic table side: .5 mils difference .
I turned my iPad over to him and he searched some settings, noticed I'm using IMR7828 powder in reloading the .243 Winchester and commented that one can lose about a foot per second in velocity for each degree of temperature drop with that powder.
Then he started checking settings and discovered that the temperature and humidity were not set the same on each side of the app. When he adjusted the ballistic table temperature and humidity settings to match the solver side, the .5 mil discrepancy in the table output disappeared and the solver and ballistic table output matched.
So, basically the ballistic table thought my velocity was about 20 fps slower than the solver did. My input was the cause of the output discrepancy but revealed a potential fix in search of a problem so they can update the app. Verlin thanked me for coming in and bringing it to their attention. Customer feedback drives improvements.
Great Job, Verlin!
How's that for service, southpa?
Call Verlin and maybe he can make you more comfortable with the app.
I'm still learning….
I really do appreciate the time and attention you put in to finding this out. I think you're right though a call may be necessary to them.
