Let the melt down begin

The only concern of mine would be reliability. There has been some talk on making the 6.5 CM function reliably in a AR10 type system. But since it's a gas piston system rather than gas impinged hopefully that negates any reliability issues.

Hmm....

Been watching enough telegram footage of the current conflict, indirect fire was 70-80 percent of the early casualties. That being replaced rather rapidly with loitering munitions in the shape of small drones. All rifle fire is being served rather well with whatever is currently available.

We love fighting the last war, admittedly because the last time we did well was before living memory. Kinda caught up in a hybrid of what made us win in ww2 and lessons from the 20 year expedition we had post 911. I'd surmise the list of countries that require us to have a similar in theater response like Afghanistan allowed that doesn't entangle a peer power is short.

Seeing what drones are doing to create the near trench warfare, the 6.5 vs 308 for a sniper rifle seems like arguing over what horse is best for the calvary after the machine gun....

Technology is always changing but ultimately it always comes down to boots on the ground. Someday that might be a robot lol.

1st rule of thumb when trying to kill something/some one--- hit your target.

If they can't accomplish this through training, then reducing recoil would be the next step i guess. If the technology was cheaper they would probably just use "tracking technology" for all the rifles
