Leica Geovid 10-40\'s

I have been using one of these units for a while, took it deer hunting this week and really enjoyed the simplicity of carrying one optic instead of two. A few reflections:
.. performance has been good - did deer out past 1000 yards in early morning light
..never failed to get me a reading during our recent hunt, regardless of light conditions
..to my eyes (and maybe Pete is correct, my eyes might be wonky but they work for me...) I have seen sharper images from some other binocs I use, but they are very good
..not too heavy, not too bulky, not small tho
..do not like the location or size of the ON button, prefer if it was on right side under my first finger like the Swaro
..focus is smooth and easy to locate and operate

Ian,, i'm now convinced.. dig out your yellow pages and call an optician... ha,,, and judging by the photo on the Black Hills ammo catalog,, look up a plastic surgeon while your at it !!

ha ha.. couldn't resist that one mate,,
good to see your mug out and about.. we will have to hunt togetherone of these days..
regards Pete

Pete,
I like the Geovids a lot, they did a great job on the recent mule deer shoot. Will take them out again for the buck hunt. We will also go back to the CWD area and try for some more critters - they only get spookier so the shots will get longer. Little difficult to hold steady but not impossible. Very interested to learn more about the bigger set you are testing.

Hi Ian, well the 8x56's are not as big and bulky as i expected, they are pretty compact for a 56mm lump. i like em, and when leica say i can't borrow em any more i'm gonna buy em. or the 3 id take the 8x56 version, i was ranging sheep at 1233m in Scotland with em. the 8x didn't seem as finniky about a mega steady hold as did the 10x.
regards Pete

Pete does leica expect to make a smaller version say 8 x 30 ?

Re: Leica Geovid 10-40\'s

good question, i don't know the answer, but i will find out and get back to you shortly.
i think however that there might be questions over the size of the market for 8x30's.. i'll find out ok..
cheers Pete
