You're right, the elevation turret turns with little effort. I sighted it in on a 700 Mtn Rifle in .260 Rem today. I moved the reticle to zero and will have to watch it closely when hunting. Another thing to check before taking the shot.

The rubber band trick seems to add another layer of insurance. Of course check it before you take a shot.
