large rifle primers in 300wsm.

I Like everyone I have been unable to get any large rifle magnum primers lately. My question is has anyone ever used large rifle primers in the 300wsm? I was able to bum some off of a friend and need to go shooting but have been cautioned against using them. Something about pressure spikes.
FYI I will be loading 53.5g H4895 with a 165gr AB.
Any advice?

I don't use the magnums. I just use the large rifles.

In fact I once read a post by Kirby that he only uses the magnum primers on cases that are using more than 100g of powder or when he'd be shooting in sub-zero temps.

Primer selection should be determined by the powder, not the cartridge.
