Jewll Trigger Lighter Fluid

Just a couple facts to know here.
The reason Ronsonol or charcoal lighter fluid is recommended is they have ingredients characteristic of cleaning agents AND MOST IMPORTANTLY they contain petroleum distillates which help lubricate the mechanisms.
I personally do not recommend to my clients they use brake cleaner as it strips any lubrication necessary for the mechanisms to help prevent wear, rust- etc.....
I know and understand that there are a lot of JEWELL fans out there.... They are great triggers.
But, there is one trigger company out there that produces triggers that requires little or no maintenance.....
Can you guess who that company is?????

I was worried that some of the newer lighter fluids would not have the light oil residue from some of the older lighter fluids. I think the newer Kingsford fluid that says low odor is probably not the same as before. Jewell is maybe more concerned with the cleaning?

FWIW I use mineral spirits out of a spray bottle. Works well, leaves a slight lubricant residue. Got the spray bottle when the Lysol was gone.

I have a Jewell trigger on a HCR rifle that I had built 3 years ago. When do I need or have to flush the trigger? It seems to work great, is this a maintenance procedure or done when there is a problemo?

IMHO all these complex triggers should be blasted out with the "bad" brake cleaner and never be lubed.

They should also never be used on humid salt air paces as they will pack up.

If you're gonna hunt on an ocean's coast, take an older Model 70.

That I understand being in aviation for 28 years. JP5 is oily and has a "lubricity" to it.

During Vietnam I was on two Navy oilers we transferred hundreds of gallons of it to aircraft carriers it's pretty interesting stuff . A lot safer then gasoline but still volatile .

Me-I am a Jewell Trigger owner and I have heard it is recommended to flush the trigger with lighter fluid. Which lighter fluid is recommended?

Jewell-Yes

Be advised that any of these will leave clean dry parts. i.e. no lube at all.
Seems to be what Jewell hisself recommends, so go for it.

I went to buy some and Kingsford and all the others I could find say no odor on the label. Is that the right stuff or has something changed in the formula?

I use gumout carburetor cleaner in the spray cans and it works great, i also use it as a part cleaner in all guns and fishing reels while disassembled
