I think this is more of using the right tool for the job. I cleaned and lapped factory barrels during breaking in the rifle. After that for heavy fouling rifles I'd use JB for awhile depending on the rifle. If I felt the bore or throat was getting rough I'd use JB. For copper I use a now discontinued foam. I've used most the other copper solvents and they all work with varying effectiveness. Since I don't shoot monos or AB's I let the bore tell me how clean I need to get the bore. Since I live in a low humidity climate I just don't need to worry about copper or rusting that much. I clean/ oil my firearms and carry on.
