"Its Time"

I have a couple more first hand stories from older guys that have been in the woods...probably more than any half dozen of us....one was a logger in coastal BC......
other grew up in Montana divide area..had keys to hundreds of thousands of acres.......back in the day....
He was on a trap line one day...high rocky mountain rock hillside..turned the corner..face to face with grizz...just like the picture on the old magazine.......he killed that grizz...one shot into the skull...222 Remington....
But i will save these stories til others post up....

Same here.

If your first priority in life in the wild is to survive..hiding is your best protection...in my 'viewing'..it had been really hot..they needed water..knew where it was..misjudgement in timing...had my pontoon boat been turned 180 degrees..would never had seen what I did.....
Chances are most people will never have a chance to even be within a 100 miles of one...but there are the people that never notice when one is near to their house......

The only problem I have is that with all the people outdoors with spotting scopes why haven't we seen more sightings?

In the last forty-five yearrs of hunting I saw one, that is only one, mountain lion. And that one ran across the road in front of me. Therefore I conclude Big Foot, if he's out there, would not be seen very much. In all those years I have encounter only one person who spotted game before me or more than me.

I've only seen 3 mountain lions in the wild in all my hunting days also. I'm 49 now. First 2 in my twenties while living in Colorado. The third was in Utah running across the road but it ran a little up the road so I got about 4 seconds of viewing. The first one I seen gave me some chills and I headed out of the area always looking behind me till I got to my truck. I probably made it to my truck faster than I ever have before in the dark or well right at dusk. The second was with a friend and we watched it about 600 yards away circling around a bowl as we were circling around lower. We finally watched it head over the top and out of site. It seem like it was somewhat watching us but it also seem like it had somewhere to be going as it got past us up on the mountain it kept moving and over the top out of site. This was near Gunnison Co. The last one was up near Strawberry Reservoir Utah.

I'm tagging in. The topic of Bigfoot has interested me ever since I was little. I personally have never had an encounter with one. My Dad has told me of a couple encounters his friend and him had when they were younger. I have asked his friend on random occasions about the stories and he tells them exactly like my Dad does. My Dad is one of the most straight forward to the point guys I know, so I trust his word more than anyone's. I'll share his stories.

The first one goes like this. My Dad and his friend were in their early teens when this happened, so sometime in the late 70s. My dad lived in a cabin in the woods of Western Pennsylvania. Together, they took a walk into the deep woods miles from roads, his house, and any other homes. They came up to a ravine in the middle of the woods. There were big rocks on both sides of it. They took a break near the ledge of the ravine. He said the woods were very thick and not very open in most places. I have been to this exact place before and the ravine is about 50 foot across and 30 foot deep with a stream running in the bottom of it. My Dad said all of a sudden they heard this scream/yell come from the other side of the ravine they were on. He has heard deer grunts, bobcats scream, bears growl, owls call, and so on. He said what he heard that day was unlike anything he has ever heard in his life. He said they both fired warning shots into the dirt and then ran all the way home and didn't go back for years.

The next story happened about 20 years later with his same friend but this time at his friends house back in the woods in West Virginia near the PA border. They were up late one night playing cards and just hanging out. They heard his friend's dog barking and going crazy. They went outside and could hear something tearing through the woods and breaking off tree limbs. The woods were about 50-75 yards behind the house and they could tell whatever it was was big and powerful. They said it stopped and they could see its eyes looking at them in the dark. They say the height it's eyes were at would be above a mans head. It ran off and the next morning they went up there to see anything. They found tree branches that were too big for a man to snap off broken and busted off trees and just a path cleared through the woods from it.

My Dad is 54 years old and has spent all of his life hunting, fishing, walking, and spending time in the woods. Those are the only two times he has experienced something that he couldn't explain. I'm 23 and have also spent a lot of time in the woods but I personally have never encountered anything out of the ordinary, but most of the areas I hunt today aren't far from civilization.

Yeah...lost me when you said your dad was 54 years OLD...i am 53.....😜...he's an old fart.....
Civilization used to be a long ways from the deep dark canyons....not any longer....if these critters can live on army bases..they can live practically anywhere.....dogs and cats make nice meals.....
All the time in the woods wont necessarily get you a viewing...i believe it's when one of the critters decided to let you know it's there....comparing to cougars...i have seen a few...coastal and desert of Oregon...wasnt specifically looking for one...just happened.......i went fishing that day...not looking for a Bigfoot sighting......

A story by the guy that killed the grizz at point blank with his trusty 222 Remington....'trying to type first hand'..put some story into it...
...up the mountain and over the other side...(when he was younger..maybe 1970s)....i just couldn't believe I couldn't find a deer or elk in this beautiful..perfect canyon..noone for miles..noone to spook the critters...hiking and sitting eyeballing and classing...nothing...was about to hike back to camp...looked across the valley to the other mountain...theres something moving...three somethings...grabbing binos..."what the helll are those guys doing....wait...those aren't guys...those things are gigantic.....
So,he sat down on his mountain side an observed them...for hours...they had no clue he was there...maybe 1 mile away...
They were searching for something....rolling rocks..trees....anything that might hide a piece of food..of some kind.....started getting dark...better get back to camp....
Never saw them again that season...BUT...several years later...there were two...same hillside..same time of year...spent the rest of day just watching them......
Never told anyone about them....didnt care to....
This guy is a Vietnam vet....he confided in me that he didn't go over with the green coats...he was used by someone else.....see..they learned he was woods-wise..and could shoot..very specific jobs......his son was in Afghanistan..called him up one day...says "dad..i am having to do some purdy bad things over here"....dad said "if it keeps you and your buddies alive....keep doing it"......his son has high clearance..but still not enough to know what dad did.....
I am not one to doubt his story.....

So now I come to the other ol' boy I used to hunt with...
I sent him this pic... 3061~2.jpeg...
Not really expecting any kind of answer from him...but he did...
He said "the hair doesn't look like that".....kind of astonished me....the hair doesn't look like that....
Well..this guy is now nearly 80...been all over the state's hunting everything...he has really cool photos of deer..elk..mountain goat..and a Montana big horn...right before he shot each of them in their beds with an old stick bow......before compounds interested him......and the pics were from the position he shot the animal from....sneaky ol' fart....spends(well..when i used to hunt with him) days in the woods yearly...firewood..mushrooms..hunting..scouting...you name it...he basically does it....
So at this time in his life he was logging in Coastal BC Canada(Cannuck land)....logging 6 days a week...tough jobs back then..work or get the hello out of here....anyway...
He told me "we drove around a swamp land area on our way to and from work...always at the same place the air just absolutely stunk....they always figured it was the skunk cabbages growing on the roadsides...but the stink was not the cabbage...on a trip back from work one afternoon they stopped the van for a pee brake(we all know what that is..right)....everyone is out of the van..complaining about the smell...someone yelled..."hey...look at the size of this foot print"....so everyone went and looked...not much was said...cause they knew it wasn't one of their crew pulling a gag joke....so they loaded up and headed to town....next morning the were a touch earlier than usual...and saw "something" crossing the road...right where those tracks were seen day nite before....half the crew was sleeping..so they called BS on the sighting.....until the next morning..everyone was watching...and sure enough...it crossed the road again.....and again...and again....became morning routine..until one afternoon when heading in...two of the guys wanted hike up the draw a ways and check things out....didnt see much..but they said the smell was absolutely stifling up there....the next morning caught them all off guard....3 sasquatch walked across the road in front of them....said the big one wasn't there...looked like a smaller family group"....
That was the last time he remembered seeing any of them...and the job ended soon after......
That was about 60 years ago.....
The hair comment...he said the critters he saw looked fo have straight long heavy hair....that hung down...not soft lofty hair like the picture....but...that can all be genetics....
Bears have the same hairs...some fluffy and soft..others bristled and straight.....
I don't remember him saying anything about the color....

I guess I'm of the mind if there really is a big foot or sasquatch or whatever you wanna call it then someone would either 1. Have some decent photos of one. Think about the thousands and thousands of game cameras out there. 2. Someone wouldve shot one by now or one would've been hit by a car. No one has even found remains of one of these critters. Personally I dont think it exists but whatever floats everyone's boats.
