Is anyone shooting a 270?

My nephew has used a 270 wsm for over 10 years here in Alaska . He has taken sheep, moose, caribou, black bear and two large grizzly ! A lot of it is the shooter but this round with the right bullet is a great cartridge . He uses a 140 gr Barnes TTSX
hand loaded that shoots three shots .5 at 100 yards. Took his last sheep at 470 yds

Sir I have hunted and owned a 270weatherby magnum for years and handload ed for with great success , I've used mostly 130gr partitions and spire points , along with 140gr accubond, factory and my hand loads took deer out to 400 yrds which is a long shot in my state I hunt , you will never want another rifle but a 270weatherby , they are the best that's built , and trust me , don't let people say I like berger bullets or others like them the barnes 130gr in my own factory out of the box takes animals and puts them down as well as any other round they sell , to hand load use norma powders and be your own judgement I shoot a accumark style as well as mkv deluxe, and Lazer mark, they have never failed me a second hunting with them

Sir if you want a all round rifle for most big game a 270weatherby magnum is my choice on any the up to elk , loaded with a 130 factory rather it barnes factory to ever bullet they sell at weatherby your not going to be left behind with a shirt tail cut off I took deer running several times with my own 270mag and standing up to 400 yrds with the 140gr accubond rather. It thier load or mine , my 270weatherby has never left me standing with out filling my tag with one shot , a 6.5300 weatherby is awesome as the .30378wea , but you will never go wrong with a 270weatherby magnum in a mark v

Why are you suggesting a 270 Weatherby? I already have two 270's. A Weatherby is not the solution.

I have always had really good results with a 270. I'm thinking about building a 270 weatherby or 270 wsm. Anyone using these anymore? The 150 ABLR or 170 Berger Has a high BC
I guess I'm just an old shooting enthusiast at 74 years old. I have a 270 for hunting (that's a picture of my Remington 700 in 270 Winchester with a custom stock on the left) and I have a Ruger SR-762 in 308 for the range. Both are very tried and true performers for many years !!

I shoot both the 270 Win and a 270 WSM, I have taken a few deer with the WSM using 140 Accubonds, faultless results. For Moose hunting around here I prefer a heavier bullet 30 or 338 cal. I feel more confident with heavier calibers over the years.

I have a couple.270 WSM's. You can't go wrong!! You can get factory ammo or load. I use a 150 grain bullet and 68 grains of VV N560. Amazing accurate!! Great gun.

130gr Nosler Ballistic Tips are pretty accurate for hunting.

Nosler Accubond has been very accurate, but def. not cheap.

I think Sierra makes a 135gr Match King. The 115gr Sierra gets associated with 6.8SPC.

R22 gets velocities up there with the factory Hornady "Light Magnum" cartridges.

Because he wants to be different. Nothing wrong with staying out of the mainstream.

HEAR YEE. HEAR YEE HEAR YEE!!!!!! Surprised ya didn't get the 1st 50 posts tellin ya that all forms of the 270 sucks and ya gotta get a 6.5 Creedmoor! Build and shoot what ya want and enjoy it. As stated already there is nothing wrong with 270 cal fast, flat and hard hittin. Proven meat getter.

I think I need to take back my earlier remark about the 270s not getting much love. Looks like they get plenty; just the guys shooting them are too busy killin' stuff like it's no big deal so they just mind their own beeswax :D

I've had quite a few 270win , 270 wsm and one 270 wby . Have never been a fan of weatherby rifles but I do love the 270 wby as a round. Except a lacking the BC of the 6.5mm bullets this 270 wby does everything and maybe more than what a 26 nosler would do.
Here's a picture of my mcwhorter 270wby with a 200 yard group and a 4 shot group at 825 yards.

I my self hunt with a 270weatherby it is my favorite, I carry , and a 6.5300 , I not say I don't hunt with other weatherby cals I do and own , and never not once got left with a cut off shirt, tail where if it was thier ammo or mine , a good scope is what makes the difference , you get what you pay for.
