Is a bull barrel necessary?

A lot of good advise here. You will not use the heavy barrel for much after the PD hunt. Buy what you can aford in an all around rifle - be much happier. Alot of .223 ammo around. Enjoy the hunt young man. I mite suggest the Savage Lite - Model 25 , made for the .223 . gun)

Buy something you can afford to own and shoot. It'll serve you well for years to come.

Save some money for a decent scope. Perhaps an older fixed power target scope off of ebay? Don't be fooled by cheap Chinese imitations.
