This weekend, I took the second level long range shooting course taught by Raidon Tactics in Bunnlevel, NC. It was as much a spotting course as it was a shooting course.

We learned how to correct for wind using several different ways of estimating the speed. We also learned how to use trace and splash to call for corrections.

At the end of the course, we did some solo shooting to show how what we learned applies even when you're not using a spotter, and I was honestly surprised how easy it got to hit a 4" clay target at 633yds by the end of the day. We also shot an e-type at 817yds, but that was pretty easy in comparison.

Everybody got one-on-one time with the instructors, dialing in the details of our form and our calls. Those that needed more instructor time got it, and those that needed less time got more shooting time.

What's really incredible is that training like this is even available to non-military or LEO shooters at all. Raidon Tactics offers the first level long range shooting course every other month. (Raidon Tactics | Premiere Shooting, Close Quarters Battle and Counter-Terrorism driver training.)
