$5 a dozen here locally. Eat oatmeal, it's better for ya. LOL
I was never a big fan of the laying hens my wife and daughter had in the past. My daughter thought they should be free range. They turned into a free lunch for critters in the area. Now I'm rethinking my dislike for the hens.
now we have so many duck eggs we are always trying to get rid of them. I'm changing my opinion on them now

My brother has a modest number of young hens, 6 actually. He literally gets a half dozen fresh eggs every day! All of his neighbors seem to be around a lot more now. LOL
All of our neighbors that tried laying hens lost them all to Yotes, skunks, racoons, Red Tails. Have to keep the hens penned up with good wire.

I've added security to transport eggs from store. You can never be too careful!
