After thinking about a thread posted about a possible 308-416, and after shooting my son's Remington bolt-action in 300 Blackout, I am inspired to look at getting my own subsonic thumper. Paperwork be damned.
Enfields on P14 actions are readily available here, and there are a number of calibers that can use the same bolt with no changes.
I'm considering either a .303 blown out to .416 [ been done before, called 416 Strauss ], or a .458 shortened somewhat.
Also been done before, with the 458x2 and 458x1.5, even got load data available.
I'm leaning towards the 458x1.5, for subsonic 500 grainers.
By happy co-incidence, I traded for a 450 Watts die set, which I can use for the .458 option, just the seating stem will need to be elongated somehow.
After the silly season, it'll be time to shop for that old P14 Enfield.
