I currently have a 6.8 Western with a variety of bullets stocked. I plan to buy a friend's Tikka T3x Stainless. I am considering rebarreling the Tikka to a different caliber. I'm curious if I can maintain the case dimensions of the .270 WSM but seat long bullets out long like the 6.8 western. I would order a 1/7.5 twist barrel. Are reamers, dies and components readily available for what I want to do? Any other words of wisdom?
Thanks

If you get it throated right and the magazine and action are long enough then yes you could seat bullets in the 270 just like the 6.8 Western. I don't know where or how to get it done. But it shouldn't be that difficult. Some of the barrel suppliers should be able to help you get it done.

All Tikka's are "long actions" even the with barrels chambered for 308 win length case. If your friends is in a WSM case (i.e. it has the right bolt face) and you want to seat extra long. You will need to buy long action magazines and change out the short action cartridge bolt stop for a long action cartridge bolt stop.

I've thought about doing the same thing on my T3x 270wsm. Ultimately, I haven't messed with because it shoots 140 Accubonds so well. I wholeheartedly recommend you find long action mags to take advantage of the longer/heavier bullets.
