So I've used h1000 in my edge for some time now. 28" tube and its throated long... 4.1coal so I've been loading 94gr that's getting me 2830fps. Has anyone tried 8133 in the edge yet?

Just shot some 8133 today with the 285 eld-m
I run a 30" tube but it's slower than most barrels from what I read on the net.
CBTO is 3.133" which puts me .040 off the lands with norma brass.
worked up to 94.2 grains at 2950 fps. Still haven't hit max pressure yet but it's in a good node right now with good SD so will likely leave it alone.
With retumbo I was getting ejector marks at 2900 fps.

Arich, that's what I was wondering if the fps would go up over h1000 or retumbo. What charge weight was your retumbo load?

With 92 grains retumbo and 300 otm berger I'm at 2830

When I get a chance I'll try some 8133 with the 300 otm. I dont see a lot of velocity difference between the otm and eld.
Had the eld shooting lights out at 3080 fps with RE33 but it's to unstable for my liking.

Not what I wanted to hear. About the R33. Thought it wasn't suppose to be to temp stable. Got all my parts for a Edge build and was hoping to use the 285 with R33. How about if I was to develop my load close to the temps I'll be hunting in? Say around the freezing point to maybe 10 degrees lower?

Lots of people use it with success, I'm sure you can find a load that will work fine in a wide variety of temps. I am just going a different route for less powder burned and similar velocity.

I tried some test loads today and got:
97gr 8133 2814fps for the highest charge I tested. There was no pressure signs so the next outing I'll try 99gr. My old load was 94gr h1000 but this was a hot load. 91gr h1000 gets me at 2720fps so 8133 is definitely faster. Going to do some tests for sd/es and see if that's good now

I run Retumbo or RE33 in mine, never seen a need to try any other powders. Where does 8133 lie in the burn rate scale compared to RE33?

I was plagued with pressure issues with mine, I built it with a turn neck chamber and very tight tolerances, this was a mistake. H1000 gave me grey hair, it would shoot fine one day, then wreck brass the next with the same loads. I altered the chamber enlarging the neck and the problem disappeared.

Cheers.
:)

I don't know where rl33 lands in but 8133 is between retumbo and n570

Just started playing with this in my edge this weekend (done some testing with it in 300 dakota) it seems to be around the 570 burn rate as stated earlier.
I am running a 30" barrel and shooting 285 ELD-M. Ran 92-96 grains with bullet .027" off.

The 96 grain load was getting cratered primer and slight swipe on case head (Norma brass) I plan on going a little further just to see where it maxes out. Hopefully next Friday I'll get some more shooting in if not sooner.
