Hunting Stock Design

I like the old school sporter style of the Christensen (for a woods rig), but the trigger reach is very long. Have to curl my fingers up and put them in front of the pistol grip to reach and get square on the trigger.

What's the cost for the 1 pound saving?
😂😂 not as much as the regret of building this whole thing on a SA Savage action. The aftermarket support is too limited. I was able to sell the chassis for a fair price so that helped. It's still a pound heavier than I wish but 8 1/2 pound rifle isn't terrible.

I tried the chassis stock and didn't care for it. I don't mind if folks think it was crazy going to this stock over the chassis. I bought a Chevy pickup once too. 😂

Manners PH with the Mini Chassis is my favorite to date.

Edit - build weight is 10lbs 9oz with suppressor, rings, and optic.

The MDT HNT26 is mainly carbon - about the 'warmest' a chassis is gonna get.

It's up there in price too, but they do a savage SA inlet.

I tried one, but found I'm more of a stock guy - at least for now.

I'll second the peak 44 with one caveat.
The ergonomics for the grip are excellent BTW.

I am not totally sold on the second generation recoil pad. seems to get rock hard in the real cold and deforms it not sitting just so in storage.

Almost too lightweight for a boomer.I did a 300PRC and it came out really light.
I store my Peak 44 (Weatherby Backcountry) in a muzzle down to keep any weight off that recoil pad. Hoping to get some good lifespan out of the recoil pad.

Savage can be tough to find support for.

I put a Bell and Carlson on an old Flat Back and it worked well. Has the aluminum block. Not much of a long range style. https://www.bellandcarlson.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=1040

HS Precision has Savage stocks that can be be set up for long range.

The lightest and most espensive is Pure Precision.

Unfortunately McMillan and Manners have stopped making stocks for them. Although Manners may still do one for the SA Savage.

Another
McMillan is making stocks again
