Has anyone opened up a HS precision sporter style stock to fit a proof sendero lite contour?
Or a bell and Carlson for that matter.
Just something with a narrower sporter forearm and a NON vertical grip

I have a HS sporter that has been opened up for a light palma. 3 inch shank. I would NEVER do that again. It is to thin on the sides. When I rebarrel it will have to be bedded up along the sides. Then re painted. I did a #5 Brux on a HS sporter. It had a 2 3/4 inch shank . I made sure 1/2 inch was taken off the shank. Looks great and is not too thin.

morning, I have 6 H&S stocks in different configurations. I order
according to the barrel shank and barrel diameter. the only minor problem
I had was the timmey trigger on Rem. 721 action hit the side
of the stock. cleared with a demeral. the stocks r full bedded.
in different colors. I bought 3 H&S stocks to fit my custom built
weatherby's. I will not buy a manners or McMillian stock.
to much cost and wait time and excuses by the builders.

I have an HS that has been opened up to a Shilen #7 contour that it fits and works just great. The gun was originally a Remington 700 varmint rifle that looked just like the sendero (first generation). I had it worked over and turned into a 22 BR with the #7 barrel for a heavy, bench, varmint rifle. The barrel channel took out quite a bit of material, but it works great and I have not had any kind of issue with it.
I also put the same barrel on another Rem. 700 with the 2nd gen. sendero stock. The rifle had a heavy contour carbon barrel on previously, and the #7 Shilen slid right in place of the carbon barrel. So i think it would work out just fine for you.

I have a used Proof Research "Monte Carlo" stock that is very much like what your looking for. Rem 700. Light green, about 24 oz. $475 shipped.

PM me if you want pics

Here is the 22BR I had built on the HS sporter stock. As you can see it did take a lot of material out of the fore end. But I don't mind. And it has not given me any issues structurally. I think for your application the carbon wrap will work just fine.

No problem. If the gunsmith does a clean job it looks kind of cool i think. It is a big barrel on a stock like that. But it looks pretty good.

This is the 2nd generation HS stock with the heavy palm swell and wider fore end and the same contour barrel. It has a little more room to work with. This is the one that had the carbon barrel before i swapped it out to the #7 contour. The barrel has the same contour as the carbon and fit exactly the same.

I purchased a Bell Carlson stock, a few years sgo, thst I had to open up, to fit a #5 contour Brux for. I found the material to hsve been gummy, and hard to work with. If y barrel had bern a drop in, it would have been fine, as the finsh, on the finished contour, was nice, and sealed, but when you open it up, its gummy.
I've seen a hs, opened, and the sides, were paper thin. Scary.
Good luck. It can get a little hairy.
