Greeting all,

New here on LRH but been dabbling around on a handful of other forums the past 6 months or so.

Brief intro of me - got into firearms around 2016 but was always mainly handguns and shotguns. Hunting was always something I wish I could do, but never really took the steps to get involved as I don't have any friends or family that are into it. In February of this year i decided to change that, set my mind to planning a few fall/winter mini hunting trips somewhat locally, signed up for a private range that goes up to 300 yards, and started to accumulate some rifles that I could practice on to 1. Start learning longer distance shooting and 2. Train on some rifles that I can potentially use for the hunts.

I've been thoroughly enjoying the range. It's an hour and a half from home and I've still been making it up there 2-3 times a month. Purchased a Weatherby Vanguard in 6.5 CM, finished building out my AR 5.56 and those have been my 2 primary range guns on the 100 and 200 yd lines.

Just finished assembling a gun I purchased mainly to start practicing on the 300yd. Not planning on it being a hunting rifle, just wanted to try something new. My first semi build and my first 308. It's a heavy varmint barreled action Howa 1500, 24 in 1 in 10 twist, in a B&C stock. In case you cant tell already, I do budget guns. Don't really have the extra cash flow right now, and like to have a bit of variety so need to keep the price down a bit.

Took the 308 out last weekend, and still need some getting used to. Zeroed in at the 100yd, went to the 200, then the 300. Not yet ready for the 300. Need to still learn this scope and the drop on this rifle.

Here are a few pics for yall. Happy to be on this board and looking forward to learning and meeting some good people.

Welcome to tha forum from Wisconsin!
Great bunch of people here. Looks to me like you could use a rear bag to steady up your gun some. Hope you enjoy the trip. Hunting is a great sport with great responsibility, we have a lot of people trying to take it away.

Glad to have you on our side!

Welcome, we all have to start somewhere. The Howa/Vanuard action is a good foundation. You can build something on them later or send them down the road when the time comes.

I buy guns all across the spectrum. Just bought a used M70 .30-06 and a new Beretta 9mm. I don't have $700 in the two combined. I have now problem spending a few thousand as well, but I like deals. Cheap guns will do 90% of what most people need.

Welcome aboard from Wyoming. Howa is a pretty action. Weatherby uses it for the Vanguard rifle. I didn't catch where you are from, but with all that green at your range it must be in the East. Good luck with your hunting.
