Sending off my first custom rifle build and the smith has asked for a dummy round to cut my chamber.

Do I simply load a new case to my desired OAL with my prefered bullet?

Anything I'm missing that someone smarter can help me with?

please?

Thanks

Dave

Yes. But before you dump it on him do a bit of measuring yourself. You may find your idea requires a 'special' reamer and not just a throating reamer to lengthen the throat. Go to the SAAMI web site for chamber and cartidge drawings and dimentions. A dial caliper is enough tool for your measuring.

Ask your smith. What is he looking for? And why? Good reason to spend a little time getting to know him and what he prefers. It's what I'd do.
