How do you rate a Sako AI action

I am about to pick up a little used Sako .223 Rem on the AI action (1979-1993). I intend on shooting it in its original form at first with the intent of rebarreling and re-stocking it in the near future. How solid are these actions and would it be capable of supporting a fairly heavy 26" barrel? What chambering would bring out the max performance out of this action sticking with a .223 barrel?

In short Awesome! Mine is a L461, but I did have a AI which was just as good.

Douglas 23.5" barrel 1-12 twist. Cloverleafs numerous loads.
