How do the older Swarovski EL range binos compare to the new ones?

I'm thinking about getting rid of my spare set of Leica's and my Leica 1600B to consolidate them into the EL range binos. I have a Terrapin for the long stuff but it would be nice to have a all in one for out to 1000yds or so. Also has anyone gone from a 10x50 bino to the 10x42 EL range and not liked it. I use 10x50 Leica's now for my everyday glass.
