How bad is the 7 backcountry?

Nobody cared till 2012/13.

In 10 we had a local gun counter guy with a Tikka in 6.5 not sure which door knocking cult he was more like but his zeal for Tikka was only surpassed by his religious fervor for 6.5 creedmor. Fast forward a few years and almost every single gun at shot was in 6.5, and the big selling point to the overwhelming majority was fast twist from factory combined with high quality reasonable price factory ammo.

At the time I'd picked up a rebarreled fast twist 260 to kill paper for cheaper than the then more popular 6.5x284, as such the creed did little for me.
Exactly......lots of stores with racks filled with nothing but 6.5 creedmores.....hard to find any "regular" calibers. I think they thought they would sell everybody one!

I had the 6.5x55 in a Tikka and didn't see a need for the Creed for me when it came out either.

I've already signed up to try the new cartridge/case, and I plan to run it through a 24" barrel first. I am more interested in the case alloy technology for use in other current cartridges, and according to Federal, there are plans to introduce some current cartridges with this case alloy and appropriate loads.

Creating various rifle loads that may run a couple of hundred feet faster than current, does have some interest with several people: 25-06 that performs like a 257Wby, 270Win like a 270Wby or WSM, 30-06 like a 300WM, etc, etc.

Having reloaded quite a few steel cases in rifle and handgun, I don't think it will be too difficult for any more advanced reloader. A bushing die and appropriate bushing could be a simple start. Case stretching and trimming will be a non-issue. To me, just another step in cartridge and reloading advancement I am very willing to take.

It's the 2nd rifle to be released with fuel injection.. but they will never replace our carburetors.
We are in the minority, lots of us hunt, shoot and many of us hand load. The general public (ammo consumers) typically just hunts. I base this assessment on all the hunters I have hunted with over the years, and both my son in laws.
The reaction from my avid hunter son in laws was "I want one".
There hasn't been a substantial change in ammo technology in 100 years. The Fury and the Backcountry probably represent what's coming.
I doubt I'll ever own one, but Siri doesn't live in my house either. 😊
But will any deer notice it?

Yeah I hear ya. It's like when people ask which is better a 308, 30-06, 300WM, 300WBY, RUM etc. For me it depends what am I going to hunt and at what distance am I comfortable doing so ethically. Or am I just going to ring steel?
And the reality is, that it doesn't matter which one you use as they all comfortably take the same range of animals.

What are the actual real life gains here? And at what price? Seems to me it will cost me alot to lose a few inches of barrel length so I can run my suppressor and not have the overall length a few inches longer? Velocity gains in the short action are not super impressive......again, what are the real world gains and are they really worth it. Me says no....but the latest and greatest will always sell.....for a little while anyway.....
The real world gains are widely communicated! They obviously aren't important to everyone but if there's another cartridge that can send a 170 grain pill out of a 16" barrel at 2920fps with FACTORY ammo I think we are all ears....the problem is that there isnt....until now.....

I am more impressed shooting a 225 grain bullet out of a 338 rum at 3100 fps.....sorry....

How about a short action 308 that shoots like a 300WM.
The BC won't end the love for our current cartridges or stop us from loading and shooting them.. or killing animals with them, but in time it may end the need for manufacturers to build rifles in magnums. 🧐
Why would they continue making rifles in huge cartridges, with high recoil that consume copious amounts of powder when they can get the same or better performance from a smaller 80,000 psi cartridge with less recoil? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Because literally everyone owns the current stuff and it isn't going anywhere soon.
