Last weekend I gave the 190 CX another try with H1000 and Retumbo. I wasn't sure if I'd started with a clean bore the first time I tried H1000/CX bullets (~3 years ago), so I figured I'd give it another shot since it produced good velocity before.
24" Proof CF 1 in 9" twist SAAMI chamber
New Lapua brass (ran through an expander mandrel)
215m primers
longer OAL of ~3.700" and .015 jump.
3134fps ES 22 SD 9 (5 shots) at 82gr H1000 (Hornady shows 82.6gr max)
3106fps ES 22 SD 10 (5 shots) at 82.5gr Retumbo
No pressure signs with either.
I have more H1000, so I'm going to use it for now. Accuracy was similar (~.75moa) with both. I wonder if my initial tests were fouled by mixing cup and core bullets into my shooting sessions. Accuracy with H1000 was better this time.
Other bullets shoot better in my rifle, but this is good enough for me to try on game. I'll plan to shoot a few critters with it this year and see how they perform. I have some 185 Berger Hybrids collecting dust, which have a very similar bc. I'll load/shoot them up as practice ammo.
