so hornaday has stopped making the sst Ammo in the hornaday CUSTOM the brown box one they gave switched it to the superformance and my guns do not like it All that said what Ammo maker / bullet would be my best bet to try for a replacement In hunting type rifles
Thanks for any input or thoughts

You will need to be little more specific with cartridges and distances you'll be shooting in order to get the best advise possible.

Without any specific information, I'd suggest trying the following options based on your performance likes of the SST:

Federal Premium (Ballistic Tip or SGK)
Federal Power Shok
Federal Fusion
Nosler Trophy Grade (Ballistic Tip)
Remington Core-Lok
Hornady Whitetail (Interlock)

Any of these would be potentially good replacements.

Good luck,
Steve

The hornady precision hunter with ELDX bullets is awesome. Also awesome is the Hornady Match with the ELDM bullets - just less cartridge offerings.

Amax and ELD work fine if you put them where they need to go. Especially for 300 and in.

I'm talking about deer/ground hogs etc. If going for bear or something tough you might want something different.

2 moa is easily in the kill zone for 300 and under. Or use match bullets and go for head /neck shots

i've used the eldx on mule deer, elk, black bears etc. its performed awesome at all ranges - 75 yds to 650yds.
