Hit the brakes!

I also bought an HMR-PRO 300. WM. Had a person here in Port Lavaca Texas make a "canon" type break and put on. Barrow was already threaded and made everything work. Like the KDF. 30+ round down range and not Red Spot. No crush washer, just fits "RIGHT"!

I installed a stainless Witt machine brake on my Savage fv12 22-250. It virtually eliminated recoil and made it much easier to see where my rounds were landing. When you have your scope maxed out and trying to stay on target on something as small as a groundhog at 400 yds plus is virtually impossible, even with something as "mild" as a 22-250. The brake sure helps. My opinion is it looks pretty good, the contours are real even, if it were blued it would almost look like it grew there. It does make you wear ear protection though, I can even feel the hair on my legs move from the re-directed shockwave!! It actually improved the accuracy of the rifle even though I was already getting sub moa my groups shrunk by about 50%. You'll have to excuse me. I'm trying to upload an image of the rifle and I'm dealing with a new Chromebook! We'll see what happens!!

Are you looking for esthetics or effectiveness? The only rifle (it came with it) I have that is turned down to match the muzzle diameter is with a Vais brake, and it sucks compared to my other muzzle brakes.
I should have added it to the above post. I purchased the Savage 12 300 WSM rifle package as seen below for $600, a couple of boxes through, and it came with Vais brake. Please don't ask why I bought it; I just could not resist it. :) I have a few 30 self-timing MBs, but this one is not threaded for 5/8-24. Oh well, minor detail.

BTW, check out Gentry's quiet brake claim; you gotta love Montana humor. 😇

I keep looking at Savages but haven't pulled the trigger to get one. What load are you thinking to try through that 300 WSM?
